The Circle in the Square Theatre is a Broadway theatre in New York City. In the same building as the Gershwin Theatre, built in 1972, it was the first new theatre on Broadway since 1928. Today, it houses the musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. The theatre is also associated with and houses a professional acting conservatory. One previous occupant of the site was Thomas W. Lamb's Capitol Theater.[1]

The rather small theatre (seating capacity 623) is the only thrust stage on Broadway (as opposed to a proscenium-arch theatre). The theatre is located in the lower level under the Paramount Pictures building and the Gershwin Theatre.

Note: This is not the original Circle in the Square Theatre, originally located in Greenwich Village area of New York City. As it was a theatre in the round and near Washington Square Park, the theatre name was derivative of that fact.
